Start Before You’re Ready

You know that feeling you get when you step into something new?
The mix of excitement and nerves, like when you move away from home or become a parent for the first time. That moment when you're pushed out of your comfort zone into the unknown. That was me when I decided to put myself out there and join a women’s networking group.
On my first call, I was nervous.
Could I confidently share what I do?
Would I be able to explain my story and business clearly?
Would these women be open to what I had to say?
Thankfully, all those worries faded away during my first speed networking session.
Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely supportive.
I joined The Prosper Network right at its launch—before my business was fully up and running. My website wasn’t finished, I had no courses yet, and I didn’t even have a calendar for booking appointments. My business wasn’t “ready,” but I was. I had a vision for what I wanted to create, and I started sharing it, even before everything was perfectly in place.
Even though my current business is new, I’m not new to business itself. I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 16 years, with experience in sales and leadership. Prior to that I worked in TV news as a reporter, weathercaster and writer, so I was used to speaking in front of people. The thing is it doesn’t come naturally for me to do that. It’s taken lots of repetition for me to be comfortable in front of an audience and it is still something I work on.
Starting a business completely from scratch was a new challenge for me.
One of the most valuable aspects of The Prosper Network has been the opportunity to refine my elevator pitch over and over. Each session helped me gain more clarity and confidence in my messaging.
If you're looking for a different way to network, The Prosper Network is the place for you. Even if you don’t feel “ready”—just start. Join a speed networking session, then another, and another. With practice, sharing your story will become second nature.
Because the truth is, you don’t have to have everything figured out to take the first step.
